Now more than ever, we are aware of the damage being caused to the environment and increasing issue of global warming. Sustainability (Sustainable Development Goal 7- Affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all) is the need of the hour.
Non-renewable energy sources i.e. fossil fuels are not only harmful to the
environment but also the fact that they are finite makes their usage a potential
problem.
Sustainability means people fulfil their basic needs but without risking future
generations. In terms of energy it means using any energy source that cannot be
exhausted or used up.
By implementing this public health can be gradually improved, as burning of fossil fuels causes damage to the health including breathing problems, neurological damage, cancer. It will help decrease carbon footprint. There’s only much a person can do to reduce their own carbon footprint. Switching one’s own home energy source and using solar energy can make a huge impact if every other family starts doing it and eliminating their total dependency on fossil fuels.
It is important to understand what the current energy crisis is doing to our planet earth which, according to studies, has grown 1.5 degrees hotter since the late 18th century. Even though humans have done irreversible damage to the planet and it’s environment, there’s still hope according to how we manage and try to minimize repercussions for the coming generations.
